Janessa was bred to Justin this summer and produced three smashing girls that arrived July 28, 2023. With such a small litter, and a waiting list of families who have or have had a Nova Mist puppy, all of these girls are spoken for.
"Justin" CH. Honor's Kindle Wanna Drive 'Em Wild was born on May 5, 2001 and went to the bridge 11/22/2014, at the age of 13 1/2, peacefully, at home, surrounded by his family. He is missed tremendously by his owner Patti Covert and all those who knew him. He was the most loving, happy, willing to please boy with a moderate activity level. Justin carried a full, medium gold coat with good undercoat and had a beautiful, broad head with a pleasing, teddy bear expression, substantial bone, well balanced angles, and a solid top line with correct tail set.
He was owner handled to some of his AKC championship points. At 18 months he placed 2nd in his class at the Golden Retriever National Specialty in Orlando, FL. He received 3 Best Of Breeds from the classes with help from Patti's good friend and mentor, Leslie Dove, who finished his championship with a Best Of Breed over 65 Goldens and a Sporting Group 2. Justin has lived on in his offspring, through very selective breedings, passing on his outstanding temperament and good health.
He was the foundation male for the Acadia Golden Retriever breeding program that continued on to include European lines. Now, after over two decades of planning and hope, we are coming full circle back to Justin, to re-introduce some of the most admired qualities and traits of great champions in the history of this breed.
These 3 girls are very special as they are the last of his offspring and his wonderful pedigree.
"Janessa" NatSR/IntSR J' SUIS TOUJOURS OBSEDEE OF NOVA MIST CCA, born November 21, 2020, was home bred at Nova Mist and is the daughter of ultra sweet "Jaya" Acadia Obsession Of Nova Mist. Jaya was home bred at Acadia and is co-owned by Patti Covert. Janessa is sired by "Jamie" Acadia Je Suis Prest, the kindest, most handsome and loyal boy, also home bred at Acadia.
Always receiving complements for her 'really pretty girl face", she has matured into a confident and biddable adult. I began handling her at shows as a 5 month old puppy in May 2021 at the Tarheel Golden Retriever Specialty in Pinehurst where she was awarded breed Beginner Puppy Best of Opposite Sex. At 10 months of age she earned her IABCA International and National Champion title in the puppy classes. With a rare opportunity to be judged by three super Golden Retriever breed judges, Patricia Flanagan, Margie Sarkin and Mustapha El Khorchi, she earned her Certificate Of Conformation Assessment (CCA) in early 2023.
Comments from judges in the conformation show ring - Excellent type, well built, beautiful 'typy' head; correct scissor bite with full dentition; correct texture coat; dark eyes with lovely expression; ears well set and uses them; nice moderate angles front and back quarters; neck into shoulders have lovely strength; well set, carried and coated tail; level and straight top-line; good ground coverage with nice reach and drive; sound movement in all ways.
The Culmination...
Thanks to Patti Covert for strategically developing her Acadia Golden Retriever breeding program over the last 27 years, producing generations with consistent character, structure and the Acadia trade mark appearance while keeping to the breed standard. Part of her master plan has always been to build her international lines to the point of being worthy to re-introduce her foundation champion male, Justin, who was a stunning boy with a pedigree full of renowned champions and highly respected breeders.
Beginning in 2012, Patti began to plant a seed with me that I never imagined would unfold quite like this. Over the years Patti has mentored me, teaching me not only what it means to select from quality lineage, but also to compliment each sire's and dam's characteristics to produce better and consistent examples of the breed with each generation. I'm honored and eternally grateful to have been trusted to continue from these two incredible pedigrees.
All clearances for both dam and sire are up to date and adhere to the breed guidelines for health testing. Click on the links below to view clearances for Jamie and Jaya, along with their parents', on the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals website - OFA.org
Janessa and Justin are genetically tested and clear/normal for the following genetic disorders and all puppies in this litter will be clear/normal for prcd-PRA (Progressive Retinal Atrophy, Progressive Rod-Cone Degeneration) and ICT-A (Ichthyosis).
Janessa is also tested clear/normal for GR_PRA1 (Progressive Retinal Atrophy, Golden Retriever 1), GR_PRA2 (Progressive Retinal Atrophy, Golden Retriever 2) and DM (Degenerative Myelopathy), so all puppies will not be affected.
Copies of pedigrees, OFA health certificates and DNA testing results are included in the Nova Mist Puppy Pack.
